The Honeymoon Suite are a four-piece indie-rock band from
Derby consisting of frontman Will Rhodes, lead guitarist Lou Minion, drummer
Tom Knutton and bassist George Wright. They released their first single ‘Taste-less’ on 22nd
September, this year.
My first impressions of the track are exceptional. The
quality of the production on the track is outstanding, it completely blew me
away as it is only the first single they have recorded. The production was
mastered by none other than Alan Smyth, Sheffield-based producer that has
worked with breakout indie artists, such as Arctic Monkeys, Reverend and
The Makers and Richard Hawley.
The track is a throwback to the 80s, lyrically, however that
is then combined with modern indie instrumentation. The lead guitar riff that
appears throughout the song would not be out of place on one of the earlier The Cribs’ records, whilst the dreamy,
fingerpicked chords throughout the verses give a very dreamy vibe to the track.
The lyrics themselves are quite poetic and flow seamlessly from line-to-line.
The drumming on the track is bouncy and gives the track a lot of energy.
This is a special track, a very strong debut. The Honeymoon Suite are a band that is
going places, if they can keep producing quality tracks such as this one.
